When it comes to your website, you must understand not only how to get internet traffic, but how to increase your alexa page rank and what role doing so plays in your overall web presence. Before we get to that however, let’s cover some basics.

What is Alexa Page Rank?

Simply put, it is a numerical value that’s assigned to your website to show how well traveled it is and how much traffic you’re pulling in. When advertisers are looking for places to put their ads, they’re going to research the alexa page rank for your site to see just what sort of an investment your website is and how much they’re willing to pay to have their ads placed on it. The lower your page rank the better it is considered to be.

To find out the alexa page rank for your website go to alexa.com, type in your website and your rank will come up. A website with 100,000 is considered fairly well traveled. Anything below 50,000 is a decently popular website. Again, the lower your alexa page rank, the better your site is doing.

One of the main questions people ask is how can they increase their alexa page rank? Well, the simple answer is that you have to get a lot of traffic to your website. The more complicated answer is that you have to use good search engine optimization when you’re creating your content. In order to really bump up your rank you have to make sure that your content stands out from the competition, that you use good keywords that will draw a lot of traffic, that you provide good, actionable information and that you make sure you have backlinks to your website in as many different places as possible in order to draw as many page views as you can.

Before using a page rank service as your answer for how to increase alexa page rank though, it’s important that you ask, “what is alexa page rank ruled by?” If all you’re concerned by is page views, you’re taking the short view. Yes, when a company asks “what is the alexa page rank” for your site, they’ll see a boosted number, which will increase your earning potential. However if that number is artificially inflated then you can have your number reset, or even get blacklisted for unscrupulous practices. So what is alexa page rank? It’s a rating by a alexa as to how popular your website is and what it’s worth to investors to put more money into your site. It’s a gold stamp as to the value of your content. And if your answer for how to increase alexa page rank is to pay a company to misrepresent you, and your popularity, then you might profit for a short time, but in the end you could face some serious consequences like blacklisting.

So just to recap, your alexa page rank is a value placed on your content, and the way your increase alexa page rank is by providing good content that is keyword rich which will ultimately drive more traffic to your website.

    Hi Apple,

The point about inflating or increase one’s ranking artificially is a good one because there are places that offer services to do this and I often wonder where that traffic would be coming from.

It may take longer, but it’s always the best decision to the things the correct way. Great information!

    Hi Apple-

My first time at your blog, woohoo. I like that you point out that there are less scrupulous answers and I sooooo encourage people not to go down that road. Publish quality content on a regular basis. Using good long tail keywords without stuffing your content and never paying a company to get you ranked, bad idea. Great article Apple.

You’re absolutely right Nelly. Rank does not imply success, however without continuous content that brings in traffic you can’t rank at all. The higher the rank, the more traffic, and the more traffic, the higher the rank. Ultimately they go hand in hand :) Thanks for stopping by!
